Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:15 PM in the activities room of the church.

Committees
Commitees of volunteers do the work of the congregation on a day-to-day basis. Newcomers, whether members or friends, are welcome to volunteer for a specific task or to serve as a committee member. Areas where help is especially needed are noted on the list, but no door is closed! To volunteer, speak with any committee member, or contact the Board President or the Minister, Rev. David Horst. Most committee reports are in our monthly newsletters.


Buildings and Grounds
The B&G Committee has primary responsibility for oversight of the physical condition of the Meeting House, the Parsonage, and the grounds.

Care Network
Volunteers help out with meals, driving, childcare, or other needs in urgent situations. Call the Minister or the Church Office for assistance or to volunteer. Clerk’s Committee
This committee attempts to keep track of sustaining members, whether “associate (members who have a primary affiliation with an off-island congregation) or “regular” (members whose primary affiliation is with Nantucket’s UU congregation).  The number of resident or associate members is reported to the UUA annually. Contact: Bob Hall.  

Finance
The Finance committee oversees income and spending patterns, updates and advises the Board of Trustees periodically on suggested changes in systems and procedures. Contact: chair Brian Girard.

Fundraising
If you have fundraising ideas for the congregation, please contact co-chairs Pete Sawyer or Linda Spery to attend the next committee meeting.  Currently, Christine Sanford is managing the bed & breakfast program.  The committee is planning for a goods and services auction for 2012, among other programs to raise operating funds for the congregation.

4th Sunday Lay-Led Service Committee
Fourth Sunday lay-led services take place on the 4th Sunday of each month.  The committee welcomes your participation and suggestions for service topic/theme ideas. Please contact a committee member with your ideas. The committee members are Sissy Girard, Margaret Ruttenberg, Christine Sanford, Yve Shevalier, Mary Beth Splaine.

Hospitality
Our congregation practices the welcoming tradition of hospitality. Volunteers needed weekly to prepare fair trade coffee and set out cookies or other snacks. Sign up on the clipboard hanging on the kitchen door.

Lifespan Education
The scope of the Lifespan Education committee’s work is religious and ethical programming for children, youth, and adults in our church community. Contact: chair Joan Ottinger.

Ministry
During the Interim Ministry period, this committee becomes the “Transition Team.”


Music
Meg Hunter (Chair), Susie Jarrell, Debby Merritt, Jack Reindel, Nancy Rappaport. Choir meets 5:15 – 6:30 pm every Thursday; Women’s Chorus meets 7-9 pm every Thursday

Nominating
This committee nominates members annually for open positions on the Board of Trustees (elected at the annual meeting) and makes appointments to fill vacancies that may occur during the year. Members:  Mary Beth

Newsletter and Communications
All are welcome to contribute articles and to fold the newsletter for mailing. It's fun to fold! The 20th of the month is usually the deadline for submissions; call the Church Office near that date to find out what day the folding will take place. It begins at 10 am on a weekday morning soon after the 20th. Call or email the church office to get more information about submissions, or contact the Editor directly. Partner Church
This committee affirms and supports our partner church in in Kolozs, Transylvania (Romania), and its minister, Rev. David Gyero. Each year the committee plans the Hungarian Dinner. The 2011 the dinner will be held in July. Members: Ilse Sangree (Chair), Gretchen Anderson, Debby Merritt, Suse Robinson, Kat Robinson Grieder

Peace and Justice
The Peace and Justice Committee of Nantucket’s UU Church is a coalition of members from the congregation and the larger Nantucket community. Contact: chair Laura Wasserman.

Personnel
This committee advises the Minister and, as requested, the Board of Trustees on matters of employee relations and practices. Contacts: Theresa Droz, Maryjane Halliday, or Debby Merritt.

South Church Preservation Fund (SCPF)
Affiliate Organization
The SCPF is a separate 501(c)(3) organization for fund-raising to support restoration and preservation of the historic building. To learn more about preservation efforts and how to help, go to http://southchurchpf.org/

Website Committee
This committee manages our website, keeping all information current, making changes and additions as needed. 

Welcoming
This committee welcomes newcomers, supports them in the process of forming connections within the congregation, and encourages them along the path to membership.  Contact: Kat Robinson Grieder
