About Our Minister

We are very pleased to welcome our new settled minister, Reverend Linda Simmons effective at the end of July, 2013. Rev. Simmons was nominated by the Search Committee as our candidate and the congregation then voted unanimously to call her to Nantucket at a congregational meeting held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the conclusion of Candidating Week.  She and her husband, professional photographer Gary Langley,  have settled into the parsonage and have begun ministry on the island.

Rev. Simmons was ordained into the ministry on May 4, 2013 at First Church Boston where she served as ministerial intern for two years and also as summer minister.  Additionally, she served as junior youth and “Coming of Age” coordinator at First Religious Society in Carlisle, Massachusetts while completing her Masters of Divinity program at Harvard.

Prior to entering the ministry, Linda held a variety of positions in adult and secondary education, and was the senior manager for a program in New Hampshire for 12 years that worked with at risk youth. She attended The New Seminary in New York City and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.A. in economics and a minor in philosophy.

Rev. Simmons  has a daughter, Regina, who is a farmer living in Maine with her partner.  Rev. Simmons has traveled extensively and has lived abroad in India, Germany, France, Spain,Portugal and the Netherlands.
